Why Have Pet Health Care Insurance?

Ownership of a dog or cat brings huge rewards, but also brings responsibilities. One of these responsibilities is to be sure that you are able to provide the very best health care for your pet. Another is to protect yourself and your family from unexpected expensive veterinary bills. Fortunately, you can take care of both commitments by insuring your pet with Pet-ID Pet Health Care Cover. By choosing the level of cover you require, the policy can be tailored to your particular circumstances.

Two out of three pets need veterinary attention every year. Sometimes this involves an operation or a period of intensive treatment. Veterinary fees are unfortunately continuing to rise at a faster rate than general inflation.

A typical premium for a 1-year old crossbreed dog in London is £7.80 per month and only £5.79 per month for a 7-year-old non-pedigree Cat in Birmingham.

Typical Health Care Case Histories

A leading veterinary surgeon, comments:

"Routine operations, such as; Dog spinal surgery costs £800; and a cat's injuries suffered in a road traffic accident (fractured jaw and fractured right elbow) costs £750 - are all typical examples of a vet's day-to-day workload. For many pet owners who do not have pet health care insurance, these routine operations can prove to be very costly."

Why Choose Pet-ID Insurance?

Pet-ID Pet Healthcare Cover offers a complete selection of cover, out together into options:-

Bronze, Silver and Gold

Once insured your pet's cover can be renewed each year for the life of your pet.

We quote a competitive price. We have developed a system that considers you and your pet along with certain other key details. You do not have to pay a higher premium to subsidise other pet owners. Some companies charge all of their customers the same price irrespective of where they live, what breed they have and the age of their pet - this isn't fair. You wouldn't expect a 17-year-old living in London, driving a sports car to pay the same insurance premium as a 45-year-old living in Cornwall driving a saloon. Some pet insurance companies charge everybody the same price.

We offer ways to meet your budget

Reduce your premium by replacing the excess with co-insurance on veterinary claims. You would be responsible for 10% of the veterinary claims subject to a minimum £35.00.

What health care is covered?

Vet's Fees

Cover up to £1,000 under Bronze, up to £3,000 under Silver and up to £5,000 under Gold. Cover is provided on a per incident basis for each illness or accident, including essential hospitalisation and referral. Alternative medicine and prescription diets are also covered, with the approval of the insurer. There is no limit to the number of incidents, which can be treated each year. There is an excess of just £50 for each claim. Cover for veterinary treatment commences 10 days after the Policy starts.

Cover for life

Pet iD Health Care Cover insurance is on-going, up to the cover limit, for the entirety of the treatment regardless of how long it takes (subject to the cover remaining in force & premiums paid up to date). Many other pet insurers limit this to just the first 12 months of treatment.

Health Care Questions & Answers

Q. What is the significant difference between the Gold Cover and the others?

A. Gold cover meets two concerns:

Q. Is my pet covered when travelling abroad?

A. Your pet is covered for essential veterinary health care, but not for third party liabilities outside the UK.

Q. What should I do if I need to claim?

A. MasterQuote Pet-ID pet health care cover makes it a very simple process. Simply call us on 0870 606 1361 and we will take the details over the telephone. We will send you a pre-printed claim form for your signature and if you prefer we settle the bill directly with the vet.

Q. Is there any advantage to paying my premiums monthly by Direct Debit?

A. Yes, not only does it break your premium down into very affordable payments, but when your policy falls due for renewal you can relax in the knowledge that cover will continue unless you advise us otherwise.
